There already is such a page maintained by my department at UNC. Point your web browser to: http://www.cs.unc.edu/~csa/recommendations.html There you'll find recommendations for all varieties of food (gathered by type) as well as car repair, doctors, etc. (Note: CSA stands for "Computer science Students Association", not "Confederate States of America"). These recommendation pages are very rough; they're just collections of articles that have been posted on local newsgroups and triangle.* newsgroups. The page for Mexican restaurants now has articles going back a little over two years. It's interesting to note that, back in July 1994, people on this group were having exactly the same arguments we're having today. Person A said, "Food at XXX is tasty"; person B replied, "Oh yeah, well I lived in Texas for 20 years, so I know what REAL Mexican food is, and XXX is not authentic." Back to the web page. As I said, it's just a collection of local Usenet News articles about Mexican food. Because of this relative lack of organization, the archive is not very useful -- but it is there. I've thought about assuming responsibility for it and organizing it by restaurant, but I've never had the time. If someone -- Pete or anyone else -- wants to assist in creating a modern, organized Tex/Mex recommendation page, I'm willing to help with logistics and with contributing my opinions.
