Try Thai House in North Raleigh behind Winston's grill. Nothing else even comes _close_. They are very new (just relocated from New York City) and haven't been advertising a lot. The food is phenomenal, leagues above all other Thai places I have been to in the triangle.

Thai food in the triangle?

The flavors are complex and subtle. We ordered red curry with shrimp, and instead of some mushy little additions, got very tasty, perfectly cooked crustaceans which were well complemented by the spicy sauce. My husband and I eat there every two weeks or so and the food has always been delicious. I once asked for extra spicy -- they meant it but I didn't. Real chili heads, you will be accomodated. I managed to finish it and recovered 48 hours later. - Diane Engles

I think that Wuchen Jong was responding to my menu suggestion from Thai Palace (Glenwood Sq. in Chapel Hill) , though it seems as though half of the posts are referring to a restaurant in Raleigh with a similar name. As for Thai Palace, I make the claim as to its authenticity based on my dining experiences in Thailand. I will say that out of the 20 or 30 times I have eaten at the Thai Palace there has been an occassion or two when the food was for whatever reason not up to their usual high standard.
I tried Thai House last week for lunch. The 'lunch specials' were very small portions. Despite that, the food was flavorful. A bit too much dressing on the salad (maybe that's a Thai thing?) and my Thai-iced coffee was different from others that I have tasted. It was worth it for a change of pace, but not something I would recommend. I was still a bit hungry after leaving. Does anyone know of a Thai buffet????
