We went to 5 Star resturant on Saturday evening. I was looking forward to the food b/c of the reviews posted here. Well I must say that my experience was contrary to everything said in previous reviews. First of all, we had 10 people in our group, and the service was spectacular. Food and drinks were promptly served and water glasses were constantly monitored. That was about the only thing I can say positive, on to the food.

Wife and I ordered hot and sour soup, spring rolls, General's Chicken, and sweet chili shrimp. Other groups got Heat seeker shrimp, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, pan fried noodles, and scallion pancakes.

Hot and Sour soup - bland, tasted like powdered beef broth packets. Spring Rolls - tasty, crisp and, well, small. Heat Seeker Shrimp - Best taste there. Was slightly spicy and was the only thing I would eat there again. Generals Chicken - Fatty Chicken, sauce had nothing special to remember. Just chicken and broccoli. Sweet chili shrimp - not sweet and no chilis! I was really disappointed about this one. Previously frozen shrimp were tastless and the dish needed more vegetables. Wonton Soup - peppery beef broth, wontons tasted good though! Beef and Broccoli - fatty beef.. bleh.. sauce was ruined by fat on beef. Pan Fried Noodles - Not bad.. Wasn't greasy as my past experiences with this dish, but was not too flavorful. Scallion Pancakes - Pretty good.. Standard.

As you can see the dishes were (in our opinion) bland and sub-par. I have had much better chinese dishes at PF Changs, Jade Garden (on Hillsboro St. (raleigh) , and China Garden in Cary.

I will not be returning to 5 Star for dinner again. Food was boring and tastless.
