I'll eat at Dillard's but the 'cue is not consistent. The quality and freshness is mucho dependent on what happens to be in the bin when they dish it up for you. I've had dried out barely edible crap from Dillard's as well as nice tender fresh stuff. How you can rate a place that inconsistent as the BEST is beyond me. But I think you are correct at least to the extent that IF you catch Dillard's 'cue on a GOOD day, you'll be hard pressed to find better CHOPPED barbecue IN DURHAM. Gregor

When I ate there the food was mediocre (except for the chocolate >pie, which was awful). And the service was really bad. I've had spotty service there -- but never tried the chocolate pie. The SLICED barbecue, however, has always rated far far better then mediocre, IMO. And Mama Dip's is ok if you eat before you go so you don't expire waiting! I've had tablemates at Dip's jest that they're hatching and rearing the chicken they're going to fry and serve to you. Unfortunately sometimes the chicken breasts were so small I would have believed them to be squab. I won't be going back to Dip's on MY nickel. Last time I went was for a 50th birthday celebration hosted by and paid for by the celebrant's husband. I think everyone was disappointed. But Bullock's, while the service and seating has often been slow, has never let me leave HONGRY. Gregor Gregor
