I recommend THE TOMATO PATCH. Don't go on Saturday or Sunday when everyone is checking in. Although it doesn't meet your criteria of 'above average price range', it's a surprisingly good pizza/sandwich place....sandwiches such as 'the health nut' with grilled eggplant & feta cheese. The Tomato Patch is on the corner of the shopping center w/food lion in Corolla. In Whalehead there is an excellent contemporary restaurant with above average prices, but I cannot remember the name. It sounds Tex-Mex. Hope your weather is wonderful.
