I recently saw some info on "good" restaurants in the Raleigh area.

Hmmm. I think can generate a comment or two.

Here is the list (edited) I saw with my comments in BOLD.

Raleigh/Durham -- By Cuisine
============================

35 Chinese Restaurant (Cary) -- Chinese
Lawrence Bldg on Kildaire Farms Rd
(very good dinner buffet, hot & sour soup)
NOT BY FAR THE BEST. HONK KONG CHINESE RESTAURANT (DURHAM) HAS DIM-SUM (ONLY ONE I KNOW) PEKING PALACE (RALEIGH) IS PRETTY GOOD

Irregardless Cafe (Raleigh) -- Eclectic
   nr North Carolina State
(excellent cafe food, small number of entrees, different every
night, at least one is Veggie. Good hummus. Great desserts.)
BY FAR THE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE TRIANGLE. CAN'T BEAT IT.

411 (Chapel Hill) -- Italian
(great informal Italian food, try the lasagna)
Est, Est Est (Raleigh) -- Italian
(homemade pasta, good food, good desserts)
Maximillian's (Cary) -- Nouvelle Italian
   Buck Jones Rd
   (very good pizza)
Piccolo Mondo (Raleigh) -- Italian
(slightly fancier & more expensive than Est, Est, Est)
WHO GOES TO A RESTAURANT FOR GOOD ITALIAN FOOD?

Little Tokyo (Cary) -- Japanese
   (good Japanese food)
BEST JAPANESE FOOD IN THE AREA CAN BE FOUND IN YAMAZUCHI (RTP) AND KASHIN (CARY)

Armadillo Grill (Chapel Hill) -- Mexican
   downtown
(wonderful Mexican restaurant, serving good, fresh, *cheap* food.
The salsa is *homemade* and is the best in town) MAYBE NOT
Coyote Cafe (Cary) -- Mexican
in Winn Dixie Shopping Center off Maynard Rd
(good Mexican and Southwestern food, esp corn bread, though leaning
towards the bland side, reasonable prices, nice decor, micro-brewed
    ales, live band sometimes)
Los Tres Maguyes (Cary) -- Mexican
   (authentic Mexican, real informal, cheap)
Papagayo (Chapel Hill) -- Mexican
   (good mexican food)

THE *BEST* AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD IN THE TRIANGLE IS LES MARGARITAS (CARY) THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT, AND THEIR HUGE MARGARITAS DIVINE.

Thai Garden (Raleigh) -- Thai
Wake Forest Rd / Falls of the Neuse Rd, behind EastGate Shopping Ctr
(Thai dishes are all good. Try the Larp)
IF YOU LIKE THAI FOOD THAT TASTE LIKE CHINESE FOOD THEN GO THERE. AN EXCELLENT THAI RESTAURANT IS THAI PALACE (CHAPEL HILL) BUT SERVICE IS VERY BAD.

INDIA MAHAL (RALEIGH) IS PRETTY GOOD MORE AUTHENTIC THAN THE AVERAGE INDIAN RESTAURANT

BOMBAY PALACE (RALEIGH) IS EXCELLENT. (CLOSED FOR RELOCATION)

ROYAL INDIA (RALEIGH) IS VERY GOOD AS WELL.

IF YOU WANT REALLY GOOD INDIAN FOOD NEWYORK IS IT.

ITADAKIMASU!
