The Steak and Ale behind Crabtree probably has the ambiance you're after, but I haven't been there for 2-3 years. There's always the Angus Barn, but I personally feel it is way overpriced. Its "secret" is that its RELIABLE for good food each and every time, and that means a lot to corporate folks.

Up our way, there's the Outback on Creedmore and El Dorado up by Strickland. Outback is very busy, but you can usually find a booth or table in the bar faster than getting regular seating.

On Six Forks, you just can't beat the prime rib with loaded baked potato at O'Charleys. They also serve a decent martini- and IMHO- they have some of the friendliest wait staff in the county.

We don't care much for TK Tripps, but to the south on Falls of Neuse is Ragazzi's (incredible calamari and nice people) and the ever-popular Kuki for sushi and Japanese food.

If this isn't enough- and a wide enough selection- let me know and I'll do some more thinking.
