Sorry I can't recommend any good BBQ for Charlotte, but if ya like cajun there are two great places there, the Cajun Queen and the Bayou Kitchen. Bayou Kitchen has some of the best crawfish ettouffee I've had outside of New Orleans. Also, the Double Door Inn is a great litle bar for live music, great Blues band last time I was there. ron@cafemojo

The Olde Smokehouse has some decent 'cue- even though it's a " family restaurant" owned by Greeks. ( hey, Greeks while not known for NC style ' cue are GREAT cooks and own and operate many restaurants in that part of the world. ) They've been in biz and at the same location since the early 1960's- ( Park Road neighborhood)- they smoke over mesquite and it's always really good. If Gus' Sir Beef is still open (Central Avenue area) it's the place to go for great fresh veggies- the guy used to grow his own and homestyle batter--fried squash was a menu item that brought folks from all over Charlotte and surrounding environs. ) Miranda The Barbecue Widow (needs to get back to NC to eat at these places again) "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers." --Cliff Clavin, Cheers
