I am most familiar with lower Westchester County, but hopefully these will help. The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, if you can get a reservation. The Escoffier Room is French, they also have an American and Italian Room (open only for lunch). Xavier's. There are two, one in Garrison, and one in Piermont. I have only been to the one in Piermont (Rockland County), but it was incredible. Equus. In the Castle, in Tarrytown. A converted estate that is now a country inn. Very elegant. More continental american food than anything else. Hope this helps. Also, check out Zagats online. They have a Northern Suburbs of NY volume. Amy

Scarsdale Cafe is excellent although not French. If you get to Goshen in Orange County, then Ille de francais is fantastic. I also understand that Petit Bistro in Rhinebeck in Northern Dutchess is great. Bon Apetit
