Having spent quite a bit of time up there. I know that there are many good restaurants. If you like MiddleEastern, Aladdin's on Monroe Avenue is the place to go. For dessert, try Creme de la Creme, they also have a wonderful breakfast and other meals but the desserts are beyond delicious. Also, if you like Indian (eastern), there are four restaurants and I would only caution you to avoid India House. Majarahni (sp?) is supposed to be good but I haven't been there. My favorite (though I have forgotten its name) is in Loehman's Plaza on South Clinton Avenue (not far from the Univ. of Roch.). The Strathallan (while very expensive) is supposed to have excellent continental cuisine. Also, I forget the name of the restaurant but it is Italian and in downtown near the Eastman Theater. I believe it is on Main Street but my memory fails me. Jessica

If you like ice cream (and who doesn't) you have *got* to find a Gilatto's (sp?) Ice Cream store. They make the their own flavors and they are incredible. The last time I was there was about 11 = years ago, and I can still taste chocolate/orange scoops I had. Have a cone for me. Amy Amy P. Another contender was The Brasserie. - Indian: I'm pretty sure it was called India Palace was the best, in a strip mall off Elmwood Avenue. - More casual, Italian: Benucci's in Pittsford Plaza and Pomodoro, don't remember exactly where. - Casual, Asian: Mamasan's vietnamiese/Thai. Fairly commercial but consistent and good food. Also: check out the Rochester Public market downtown, can't remember if it's Saturday or Sunday. It's quite a scene and includes stands selling various heart-unhealthy but tasty food. Win S. wrote: > We're going to spend an upcoming weekend in Rochester NY. Anyone have > restaurant suggestions?
