What typesof restaurants are of interest? There are many to choose from.

On the high end my favorites are: Coyote Cafe (consistently high quality, nouveau mexican, central american, american fare), Il Piatto (imaginative, fresh italian), Bistro 315 (imaginative french style), Ristra (french with a southwestern touch), Geronimos (mediterranean with a southwest touch).

Others are: Tomasitas (best Northern New Mexican in SF, IMHO), Mu Du noodles (all kinds of southeast asian noodle based dishes), India Palace (wonderful East Indian Restaurant), Cafe Paris (french country with a Belgian influence), Old Mexico Grill (large variey of authentic Mexican dishes - not New Mexican), Mariscos (simple, cheap, authentic Mexican seafood), and many others.

Tom.

just got back from SF and I'd say that Cafe Pasqual's is THE kick ass southwestern rest in that town (not dissin' coyote here - he's hot too)

for breakfast?? there is only cafe tecolote - the green chile is stunning

maybe I'm weird, but when I leave bland new england and hit santa fe or albeq, I focus only on southwestern (part of my therapy). And for authentic northern newmex, I'd recommend El Ranch Chimayo, in Chimayo.

last time i was there, i tried some place called, i think, the blue corn tortilla. it was near the motel i was at, on cerillos. i was a little turned off by the pretentious atmosphere, but the food was good.
