NNTP-Posting-User: pwight X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Vicki - There is a suburb of Las Cruces named Messilla, or Old Messilla. It is now mostly an artits colony, but it has a wonderful town square where, if I'm not mistaken, several western movies have been shot. Here you will find the historic old La Posta restaurant, located in aformer Butterfield stagecoach office that goes back 140+ years. I have been eating there, no exaggeration, for 50 years, and it was a very old restaurant when we started going there. Their "lobby" is a zoo, curio shop and definitely worth the visit. I have stopped over in El Paso on trans-continental flights, stayed overnight and rented a car in order to drive up to Mesilla and eat at La Posta. Now, I'd call that devotion! They have their own cookbook which has great recipes. Probably the locals will have other "in" places, but La Posta, despite its present touristiness, will probably outlive all of them. Please send me a chile relleno! (I remember, when we first started going there, that their field of chiles for their chile rellano started literally at their back door. Nowdays, that's a parking lot!
