Fancy without being pretentious, elegant but not sumptuous, the setting was ideal for the upscale cuisine they served. When I was last there, it was a kind of French-influenced American cuisine, and the kitchen was especially adept with fish. As I recall, reservations were accepted and even urged, but I am not sure about that. Try for a recent recommendation, and if others agree with what I say, it is well worth a visit. Formal in Santa Fe?

Pranzo, which is wonderful Italian, is also somewhat formal. The Palace restaurant downtaown, as well as several places on Canyon Rd. such as The Compound or El Farol, are more formal. -tyt Body like a sewing kit, sex drive like a cauliflower. I was just out there a couple of weeks ago and was taken to The Bullring. This is a restaurant near the old plaza and is the favorite hangout of the legislature when it is in session. I think you could easily go very formal there and not feel out of place. The food was good by the way and the prices weren't awful (well....that's a matter of opinion) $65 for prime rib for two with drinks before.
