We'll be spending a few days in the Albuquerque area next month. We'd appreciate any suggestions for New Mexican, Native American, and Mexican restaurants - inexpensive to moderately priced.

A few places I ate at when I was in the area a few years ago:
- Mi Casita in Albuquerque. Had Mole Poblano de Pollo - very good, and
very cheap ($8, for dinner and a drink!)
- Po Suwae Geh in Pojoaque Pueblo (between Albuquerque & Santa Fe) -
excellent chicken dish (forget the name, but it had a red chili sauce)
  and inexpensive.
- M & J Sanitary Tortilla Factory in Albuquerque. Very good - forget
what I had, but lunch and a drink was about $8.

Thanks,
Steve & Laurie

From an Albuquerque native,
New Mexican favorites are:
El Patio - a cheap university area best (hot chile)
try the green chile chicken enchiladas
Casa de Benavidez - north valley good red chile
Gardunos - a local mainstream chain - fun and lively - good fajitas M & J Sanitary Tortilla - carne adovada specialty - great atmosphere Barelas - south city area - for breakfast or lunch - menudo, posole, burritos Santa Fe - Tomasitas - great red chile
Mexican favorites:
Santa Fe - Old Mexico Grill (not cheap, but delicious) Bandidos (Albuquerque) - cheap and tasty burritos
Native American:
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center - fry bread and other food for lunch

That's just my eclectic list of favorites. There are so many... Bienvenidos a Nuevo Mexico...

Some people will disagree, but I love Sadie's on 4th. Sopaipillas with Carne Adovado...YESSSS!!! I first went there when they were in a bowling alley...now they are in a lovely, sprawling building next door. Go hungry!!!
