I don't know "Where The Wild Things Are", but the last two winters or so a place called "Lambertville Station", in Lambertville, NJ served exotic meats like the ones you describe. (As a matter of fact, I think they serve bison and wild boar all year 'round.) Lambertville is on the Delaware River in New Jersey, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. Their phone number is 609-397-8300. Even if you don't get the exotic specialities, go anyway. The food is always good.

Years ago, it was a very fine restaurant. It grew in popularity enormously, and it got lazy. It is very quaint, in a beautiful location. It is guaranteed to be crowded, and as they don't take reservations, you can expect a 90 minute wait at peak on a Saturday evening. It's reputation is still good, but those who frequent it know that in the past couple of years it's gone way downhill. They do serve wild boar as a regular menu item. It is a tough cut, overly dredged in flour before being sauteed, served with a heavy-handed sauce. The meat itself has no more taste than a similar scallop of pork loin. I've also had Elk there, similarly uninspired, and alligator is a regular appetizer item which is OK but nothing special. The prices are high, especially compared to the food quality, which is strictly mediocre. The service is very variable. I will say, though, that one of their complimentary salads, the tropical salad, is quite good, as are the breads that are served. With so many dining choices in the Lambertville / New Hope area, the only reason to go to Lambertville Station is to follow a name which has long since expired. Try Odette's in New Hope, it is much better.
