Hey Paul (Southern for Hi Paul), Although I now live in North Carolina I lived in Monmouth County for >25 years. Here are a few suggestions... The Farmingdale House in Farmingdale The Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury (beautiful former summer home of a NYC doctor) La Fontana in New Brunswick The BEST thin crust pizza in the world (and the joint where Bruce Springsteen hung out) is Federici's in Freehold Francesco's for Italian food in Clifton/Passaic (The bar is in Clifton and the restaurant is in Passaic. This place is a favorite with the mob so you know the cooking has to be good. The chef wouldn't get a second chance, if you know what I mean.;-) Need more. Send an e-mail. Bon Appetit, Dave

New Jersey: Recommendations?
I live in Middlesex and eat out frequently. The Buttonwwod Manor in Matawan is excellent. Also, The Water Lot Cafe in the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank. I saw someone else recommend Federici's in Freehold. I have to second that. The pizza is excellent! The Shadowbrook is very pretty but the food is not my favorite. Piero's in Keansburg is great for Italian. Great seafood at Gregory's Seafood Cafe in Hazlet, but the place is small so make a reservation! Good luck!
