Anyway, right in Spring Lake Heights is the Old Mill Inn, which has a wonderful dining room overlooking a mill pond (of course). It's on the expensive side, but nice for a special occasion. Also in Spring Lake Heights is Harrigan's - a real "locals" kind of bar and restaurant. Great place for a burger or lunch on the weekends. In Spring Lake, we've had wonderful food at the Breakers and at Whispers (BYOB). Breakers is right across from the ocean. It's a beautiful setting. In Manasquan, there's always a wait at the Squan Tavern and Maria's - two italian restaurants on the main drag of town. (I don't think the food is that wonderful at either place, but the prices are good and it's fun to be in a busy family-style restaurant.) In Brielle, Union Landing on the Manasquan River is a nice seafood restaurant. We live in Point Pleasant Beach, our favorite places there are Portofino's (BYOB and our favorite italian restaurant in the area), Red's Lobster Dock (a small fishing shack that has fantastic seafood pasta specials, also BYOB), Tesauro's (also good italian food, with many dishes from Tuscany - a speciality of their chef), and The Ark (Very casual, lots of fresh fish specials). The best restaurants (IMHO) in the area are little farther from you and include the following: The Grenville Hotel in Bay Head, The Bluffs in Bay Head (great atmosphere), Neil's in Brick, Mumford's in Long Branch, and Joe & Maggie's in Long Branch. Most of these restaurants are BYOB and fairly pricey. Feel free to send me email if you want more info.
