For me, the furthest I traveled just for a meal was when some friends and I had planned for weeks to go to a restaurant called Menz's which is just outside of Wildwood in New Jersey. This was a few years ago when this restaurant was opened all year long. Now, Menz's only stays opened during the summer beach season. The Friday night we went, there was a heavy snow storm. It took me an extra hour to drive to the restaurant with a car full of people and the windows fogging up faster than the defrosters could handle. The drive was about 90 miles and most of it was through at least six inches deep with very low visibility. Fortunately, the people working that night at Menz's agreed to stay late just so we could eat there (we stopped enroute to let them know we were going to be late for our reservation). We got there just five minutes before closing time and we were the only customers there. The food and service were well worth the effort! Fortunately, we did not have to drive home that night. A friend who lived in the area at the time let us all sleep at her place that night!
