} I intend to stop at Bookbinder's and Susanna Foo's in Phila, Pepe's in } New Haven, Al Forno (maybe, for grilled pizza) in Providence, and } maybe the Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie. If I get } to DC it will be Red Sage. Recommendations for Boston, Springfield, and } Poughkeepsie are especially welcome, as are places outside the } cities.

Bookbinder's in Philly is not all that good. When I was growing up in Philadelphia, Bookbinder's had a reputation as a tourist trap. Not really bad, but overpriced and not *that* good. I ate there once in the early 80's and was not impressed.

Similarly, *avoid* Mamma Leone's in NYC. Popular among tourists, but really bad.

I've never eaten at Susanna Foo's, but it does have a good reputation.

At one time, Frog would have been "do not miss" in Philadelphia, but I haven't been there for years and can't vouch for it.

If you are coming through North Jersey, you may want to try Yves in Montclair. Highly eclectic, interesting menu by a chef who really tries to make every meal memorable. Expensive, but no more so than Bookbinders.
