One of my favorite places for clams and lobster rolls is Kelly's Roast Beef on Revere Beach (Mass) off Rt. 1 (which takes you into Maine). It's tacky but you get good food, can eat on the wall of the beach and watch all the big haired Revere girls cruising down the blvd. There's a Kelly's right on Rt. 1 in Saugus but the one on the beach is more fun. There's a bunch of good diners on Rt. 1, the Bel Aire just past the main strip in Saugus. The Agawam Diner further up Rt. 1 and Ann's Diner in Salisbury right before you get into New Hampshire. The Miss Portland in Portland, ME is good too. For a hot dog, you might try Gilley's Lunch Cart in Portsmouth, NH. Portsmouth is a cool little city to check out. I definitely recommend driving Rt. 1 cuz it's much more interesting than 95, obviously. Joanie
