If I remember : correctly the Mirage buffet is around $10.00, I'm not sure about the Rio- : I went to a reception there so I didn't find out what it actually costs. Bally's has an excellent buffet...around $12.00, I think. I ate there back in December '93 and it was the best buffet I've been to in Las Vegas. Even Caesar's buffet isn't quite as good. I haven't tried the buffets at the Mirage or the Rio...last I heard, Bally's was rated the best buffet... Gann

Best Buffets
By far the best Sunday Champagne Brunch used to be in the Rhapsody at the Tropicana. I remember back when the price was something like $13 a head and the pastry chef and service couldn't be beat for that price. It's decayed over the past three or four years and I don't even know if the Tropicana still has the brunch. When the price went above $17 the quality actually went down and we stopped going. Now I hear that Balley's has a good Sunday brunch, haven't tried it yet though. As far as the Buffets go, my family has a phrase for them: Suey Buffets. Watching all those people lined up to eat out of the pig trough is quite a sight. Ever since we saw a guy pour a bucket of gravy on the line and we got shoved out of the way by a family hustling to get the first taste of the hot steamy gravy the name's stuck. All the buffets seem to be the same. Generic prime rib & turkey/ham/or chicken. Salad area. Jello/tart/frozen yogurt dessert section and the "Multi-cultural" entree section. Viva Las Vegas! Heh.

Heh. You have that right. The Flamingo buffet I went to last July stands out as the exception to that rule, which impressed me. Much lighter on the generic flavorless prime rib/turkey/ham/mashed potatos pig fodder, and much more elegant and Continental. An excellent Chicken Florentine stands out in my mind, for example.
I ate at the Treasure Island buffet the other night. They've combined the Chinese and Italian buffets into one. I found it barely passable, and at $8.99 for dinner, I'd rather pop for a couple of more bucks and eat at the Mirage buffet next door. IMHO, Mirage and Golden Nugget buffets are in a class by themselves. BTW, the Nugget has discontinued the $2.99 steak and eggs special on graveyard shift. Here's a shock. BOOMTOWN has one damn fine buffet. Really! I know. I was blown away, too. They comp that tasty buffet to poker players. Of course BALLY'S BIG KITCHEN Buffet is still the class of the field. Nothing compares.

It's good to! <G> ..Chip..

Any reply is appreciated. Thanks I'm not usually a buffet person but the Mirage dinner buffet (appx $12) is probably the best I ever had in Vegas. Also the Sunday champagne brunch at Boulder Station is one I tried about 10 days ago.. it's half buffet and half pick stuff from a menu and be served. About $14. Harv
