I've been back in town visiting my sister [who lives a few blocks off South Grand] and doing some family history-genealogy research. Needless to say, I've made sure of visiting some of the local eateries. Hmmm, let's see: Mary's on Gravois for fried chicken; one of the South Grand Vietnamese places [always good]; the South City Diner for some great roasted Italian sausage with onions and peppers and polenta [also a breakfast there]; the Italian place on Lafayette Square, across the street from Arcelia's --great fried calamari & a seafood pasta.

Yesterday [Tuesday], I was down the the library all day, cranking microfilm for Census info, etc., and I wanted a good dinner. So, we went to Yemanja Brasil [which I've been to before] and I had their great feijoada, the great Brasilian dish [other than Sonia Braga :-)]. A very good time.

Noticed a small pile of adverts for event this Friday night: "Yemanja Brasil... happy hour on the patio...free appetizers...May 19...6-9pm....Music by Fut-Samba (samba da roda)"

Sounds like fun but unfortunately, I'm heading back home tonight. If somebody here on the group goes, let us know how it was.

Cheers

Am back home and had a few things to add to the above.

The Italian place on Lafayette Park [L. Square is in D.C. :-)] is Ricardo's.

Went to the Addis in U. City one night last week; an Ethopian friend of my sister was with us and she helped with the ordering. Really great. Got four different dished plus the vegetable dished, along with the large platter of injera bread with everything then poured on the injera. You pull off a peice of the injera and pick up the food....really nice lamb and other dishes.

Went to Soulard's at lunch one day. Another nice place.

Cheers
