Harvest is one of my favorites, but dinner for two with wine will knock a very large hole in a hundred dollar bill. The Blue Water Grill has excellent food and a creative menu. I find the tables crowded too close together for me, though.

Gianino's and Constantine's, both on South Lindbergh, are less expensive but have excellent food and good service.

Harvests is excellent and VERY expensive. I haven't been there in several months but it was very hard to get a reservation. We went early 5:30 during the week and got in.

Big Sky, Blue Water Grill, and Remys have very good food. Remys also has a tapas menu. We also like Sadies which has a neighborhood feel about it. It is smaller and more intimate. It has a limited (but good) menu.

Blue Sky and Blue Water Grill are both wondersu

These are all three Tim Mallets restaurants. I'm fond of them...but than again up until a month ago I worked in the Kitchen at Remy's. I think that Culinarily Remy's is by far the nicest of the three restaurants. It is basically Mediterranean influenced American cuisine. A little strange, but good. Their wine list has won many awards. If you go don't miss the Grilled Portobella Bruschetta...it's one of my favorites

Blue Water is a southwestern influenced seafood restaurant. Cramped a little hard to get in I believe, but very tasty. If you go don't miss the Chocolate enchilada

Big Sky is revitalized american classics. It's not as American as they would like to claim, but it is still very american and good homey food. Both Blue Water and Big Sky won't burn too big a whole in your pocket.

Here are my additions. The New Zoe's Pan-Asian Cafe in the west end is FANTASTIC!!! The only downfall for me was dessert but when you're having so many other wonderfull tastes tantalizing your tongue who needs dessert.

Cafe Mira is the new hot spot allthough a little steep. The Chef Mike Johnson did some stints with Emeril Lagasse and Charlie Trotter so allthough young he's got his bases covered. The portobella tart is excellent.

Now the restaurant I'm most meaning to hit myself is the newest spot in Clayton called the Crossing. The Chefs there did stints at many notable restaurants in New York and Chicago. One of them was sous chef at Spiaggia in Chicago.

That's my .02 on those restaurants and a couple additions. Anyone who wants to chat food in St. Louis give me a holler allthough I don't make much money currently as a cook I still get out a lot more than most.

You've got some good possibilities on your list. Just had dinner this week at Remy's. Always a favorite of mine.

I might also suggest Gino's on South Hampton or Zia's on the Hill.

Jeff, a great place with lots of daily specials is Fraziers Traveling Brown Bag on Pestalozi near the brewery. Always lots of great seafood and pasta dishes and pretty inexepensive as well....

They don't take reservations but if you go early, no problem....
