Riddles is an "eclectic American" kind of place, Cicero's is Italian (they have live music in the basement most nights). Both have relatively good beer and wine selections. There is also a very good, new Thai place on Delmar about a block east of Riddles, on the south side of the street (can't remember the name).

U., I think I can help you. First, anywhere on "The Hill" is good for Italian. The Hill is about 15 min SE of Wash. U.; someone should be able to give you directions. Places to go on The Hill: for casual/bar type atmosphere go to Rigazzi's; for family-type casual try Cunetto's or Zia's; more formal places I don't really know about. There are a variety of good ethnic restaurants in "The Loop", which is centered around Delmar, the major road one long block north of the main campus. Another popular evening/dining area is the Central West End, which is East of Forest Park near the Wash. U. Medical School. Look for places along Euclid Road. If you're going out for lunch, I'd recommend Culpeppers on Euclid in the West End or The St. Louis Sourdough Bread Company on Delmar in The Loop. Well, this gives you lots of choices, but if you're looking for something more specific e-mail me and I'll get back to you. Good Eating! Aaron Packman [email removed]
