Cardwell's in Clayton is EXCELLENT. All different types of food. For example, I had baby alligator for an appetizer there. If you like grazing, the Blue Sky offers the possibility of sampling many small items on small plates (as well as normal meals) and has a good assortment of beers.

There is a great place in the Delmar Loop area (on Delmar) called Painted Plates. It was listed in a recent article as one of the best new restaurants in the US. Friends in St. Louis agree and add that it's also remarkably inexpensive for the quality, probably because it's in St. Louis and not in New York or LA.
