It's not really a St. Louis, Midwestern type place but... One of the best Indian restaurants in town is right near the airport and it's called India Palace. It's on the top floor of a HoJos. Worth trying if you like Indian. Dan

Gosh, Becky, all the good non-chain restaurants near the airport are "ethnic", and there really ISN'T any "St. Louis" cuisine, unless you count Ted Drewes Frozen Custard or O. T. Hodges Chili (neither of which is available near the airport). I suppose maybe you could call Riddles' Penultimate Cafe St. Louisy, but it's neither near the airport nor quick. There's a really good Indian restaurant, India Palace, at the Howard Johnson on Lindbergh just north of 70. There's a great Mexican restaurant 15 minutes away at Lindbergh just north of 270. It's called El Pueblo Nuevo. If you go south to Olive (off 170), you can get great Chinese food at Royal Chinese Barbecue, or Vietnamese at Xinh Xinh. Of course, your friend may have her own ideas about what's good, but those places are what I'd shoot for. The immediate vicinity of the airport is devoid of anything but chain restaurants. There's a nice one at I-70 and Lindbergh called Massa's. It's south of I-70 on Lindbergh but you may have to make a U-turn to get across to the left side of Lindbergh to get there. Barbecue restaurants are also big in St Louis. Take Lindbergh south from I-70 several miles. Once you pass Monsanto offices look for K.C. Masterpiece BarBQ and Grill on your right. After you've had their great BBQ go right onto Lindbergh (that is, south) to the next light to make a U-turn and head back to I-70 then East back to the airport. Good luck! Lee Burns
