Restaurants/Kansas City, MO Area

Hello there!!!!

      Although my net address originates in Indianapolis, I am logged on
remotely from Kansas City, where I have moved after being away for the past 8 years.  Boy, is it good to be back!!!!

      I also love Stroud's!!!  Best pan fried chicken in the land, IMHO.

      If you are in the mood for Chinese, I highly recommend Bo Ling's.
They are located at 91st and Metcalf and 95th and Quivira in Overland Park as well as 48th and Main, just south of the Plaza in the Board of Trade Building.  The Metcalf and Plaza locations serve dim sum from 11am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Dinner is also wonderful at all 3 locations.

      If you want Mexican, anything in the Southwest Blvd. corridor on
the Missouri side (just south of Downtown) is good eating.  I especially recommend California Taqueria and Manny's.  Ask at your hotel for directions.

      Let's see......Westport.  The Classic Cup at 4730 (?) Pennsylvania is
pretty good.  There is a parking lot near there.....you can't miss it.  I also don't know if you have been to Harry's.  I am going soon on the recommendation of a friend.  He told me they have sushi there and I am always game for that. If bagels is what you want, hit Bagel & Bagel on Westport Rd., next to Chili's. Park in the lot next to Chili's and get your ticket validated at B&B.  That will let you park (2 hrs I believe) for free.

      If Vietnamese is your choice, try Saigon Cafe, in the 39th St. corridor
between Southwest Trafficway and State Line.  Or you can go to the place in the City Market, the name of which escapes me at the moment.  It is around the corner (inside the market itself) from Cascone's.  If you can't find it, just ask around or go into one of the Vietnamese markets nearby.

      If you want good BBQ, go to Hayward's at College Blvd. and Antioch
in Overland Park.  Beware, however, as there is always a wait on Friday and Saturday.

In my earlier post, I gave the incorrect address for the Classic Cup in the Westport area.  The correct address is 4130 Pennsylvania, not
4730.  4730 would have put you in the middle of the Plaza rather than Westport.  Sorry about that!!! :-)
