Bartolino's on S. Grand

There are two Bartolino's:, one on S Grand, the other on S Lindbergh. Different management but related. The one on S Lindbergh is pretty good, the one on S Grand more upscale -- cost more, better.

Last night at the S Grand one, I had the definitive Linguini Tutti Mare for my taste. It comes in a lot of different versions around town. The seafood is usually hidden in thick sauce, red or white, and the seafood itself is often a pretty timid selection. (We usually eat in the burbs where the bland feed the bland.)

This had a half-dozen mussels in the shell, some clams and shrimp, lots of squid (both rings and the little clusters of feet) some nice chunks of fish, mushrooms, onions, garlic. Sauce very light, maybe just the broth used to cook the stuff. Portion too big to finish, took some home for lunch today.

Request for a glass of house Chiati brought a little carafe that held more than a normal glass. Tab for two, one glass of wine was $43 before tip.

This sounds virtually identical to the same dish I got at the S Lindbergh Bartolino's, a few months ago. Quite delish, and I love those mussel's in the shell! Great for scooping up yummies!

I like Cunetto's "Linguini Tutto Mare" to. No mussels, but lots of shrimp, crab, clams, etc. A nice, very light sauce too. one of my fave Tutto Mare's. And Cunetto's house salads, oh, to die for!
