Hal and Mal's in downtown area, also Nicks on Riverside Drive is probably the best restaurant in Jackson.   Also in the downtown area is the Iron Horse Grill for southwest/Mexican food.

For some tasty BBQ, try a place (the name escapes me) right outside of town going south on Hwy. 49.  Easy to find, clean, cheap, and some of the best french fries I've ever had.
