I live about a mile from the mall. If you're looking for delicious, unique, and different I wouldn't stay in there to eat. Only eat there if you're looking for mediocre, over-priced, and 1- 2 hour wait. I've especially heard from a lot of people who were disappointed in The Rain Forest. Not too far away from the mall is a place called Buca Little Italy, which is a lot of fun (2728 Gannon Rd, St Paul (612) 772-4388).

While there is no great Mall of America restaurants, we like Tucci Bennuch. The service and food are very good. California Cafe and Nappa Valley Grill are owned by the same parent company and while very good they tend to be quite pricey. Twin City Diner is owned by Lettuce Entertain You (out of Chicago) as is Tucci, but is not as good as the others above. If you want to leave the Mall, Figlio's on Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue is very good for Italian. I hope that this helps you. AlanG2838 (Alan Greenberg) [email removed]

Let's see...you tell them to avoid the Mall of America restaurants because of the mediocre food, high cost, and 1-2 hour wait. Yet, you send them to a place with mediocre food, decent-priced, 1-2 hour wait. Well, you improved in one category :-) Seriously, while, yes, I have been to Buca, and yes, it was kinda fun, the food was nothing to rave about, unless your idea of good food is a portion sized for four! Yes, it is hot and trendy, and if that is what you are looking for, then go. Otherwaise, stay with Tucci Benuch or the California Cafe in the MOA. Both, IMO, have much better food than Buca's. Don't know about the Rain Forest, althouh it didn't look that great, and the last meal we had at the Napa Valley Grille was poor, so I wouldn't go there. My favorite thing about the MOA restaurants is that most serve Summit and Schells beers on tap. Great way for a visitor to the Twin Cities to try two local brewing gems.
