I was in Minneapolis for Christmas last month and went to Sri Lanka Curry House with my brother and 2 sisters. We ordered 4 dishes - they were wonderful. Three of them were ordered medium hot, and I ordered mine very hot (read: *very* hot). The woman waiting on us warned me, but I was not about to be disuaded after having flown 200 miles to eat there :-). It was extremely hot, as I like it (I too had to eat it carefully). All of the dishes were very good; it was very different from Indian food, somewhat more imaginative; dishes with scallops, shrimp, and interesting spices. This is a great restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the Twin Cities area. It's on Hennepin, a couple of blocks north of Lake.

The only hotter curry I've had was at a place called Mandala, near exit A6 of the Jimbocho station in Tokyo. It's one of the best Indian restaurants in Tokyo.

Also, a couple doors north, in a converted Victorian, is one of the nicest coffee houses I've ever frequented (forget the name, sorry). It was especially nice after the Sri Lanka meal (and since it was 10 degrees below zero :-)
