I hope this is not too late!

I live in GR and have several great places to recommend. I could give more, but time and space limit me.

Try San Chez, a tapas place in downtown GR On Fulton, I think at Ionia). I used to live in Chicago and I think this beats all of their tapas places!

Another good place is Rose's in East Grand Rapids. They have a lovely outdoor deck overlooking a nice lake. Lots of variety in menu.

A great breakfast place is the Real Food Cafe in the Alger Heights neighborhood. (On Eastern Ave. less than a half mile N or 28th St., west side of street). Best breakfast in town, they do lunch too. Usually open until 3 or so.

For a splurge dinner, go to the 1913 Room at the Amway Grand Plaza hotel. In addition to their superb continental menu, they do a great chef's tasting menu nightly (5 courses I think). An elegant evening, to be sure.

In Grand Haven, one of the marinas just opmned a new restaurant, but I'm afraid that I haven't the name. In Holland, there's the Kirby Grill, which is quite nice.

In Saugatuck there's great British pub restaurant called Chequers. Tucked behind stores right in the hub of the cute downown shopping area. Great food & beer!

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions if you need to.

Dining worked out great ........thanks to your advice. We ate at Rose's, San Chez (had eaten there before), Real Food Cafe for a fantastic breakfast(lived about four blocks from there forty five years ago). We stayed at the Amway but chose not to eat at the 1913 because of the required jacket attire (nothing that anyone would want to were while on vacation). thanks again MJ Tom/Kris S. wrote:
