Thanks to those who wrote me with suggestions for restaurants in the Cancun and Cancun-Tulum corridor areas. I did not follow any of them, but that is probably because I left the lists at home! Silly me.

I did have a fabulous meal at the Papaya Republic, in Puerto Aventuras. Brad had a delicious steak, better than he'd had in a U.S. restaurant since before Montana started exporting all its good beef (Brad's from Montana). It had a sherry sauce which was very tasty. I had mahi-mahi baked in a mustard sauce, which was delicately flavored. I would have preferred a broiled fish with sauce on top, but their way of sealing the fish and sauce up in a foil pouch made everything inside taste of the wonderful sauce. We also had a shrimp cocktail (plebian North American tastes, don't you know), which had a yummy, chunky sauce. Oddly, the bread served with the meal was the same hard-and-crumbly "french bread" often served in U.S. restaurants. For dessert we had pineapples flambe, which also was delicious. If you are near Puerto Aventuras, Playa del Carmen or Akumal, stop by this restaurant. We ate at a table set out on the beach just steps away from the surf. The moon was lovely. Ah, but how much did it cost? Altogether, about $60 US.
