in lechemere there are several good places on first ave. duck and goose
(i hope they are still there) is vietnamese and has a very nice
buffet. very popular with the geeks. boca grande has very good
burritos. there is a good middle east place (i forget the name). over on
cambridge street is court seafood. no atmosphere but good basic fish at
 low prices.

the food court in the cambridgeside galleria mall has some edible
 stuff.

east cambridge now has plenty of lunch places due to the massive growth
of high tech there. have fun exploring.

Hmmm... the various coffeehouses that seem to have inhabited the space
at 02129 over the past year and a half since I've moved into the
neighborhood have had a tough time. As for Jenny's Pizza, I got a
pizza delivered from there once and was underwhelmed by the quality of
the pizza and pissed at how long it took to deliver my order less than
a half mile across the neighborhood. It will not be missed.

I only go to that Burger King if I'm REALLY, REALLY desperate since
the service at that particualr one has always been painfully slow and
the food is, well, Burger King.

Within walking distance of Thompson Square, those are pretty much all
of your options. I've only had dinner once at the Warren Tavern and
found it pretty horrible. 99 and Papa Gino's are what they are.

Lechmere / Kendall Square area has the Cambridgeside Food Court, Papa
Razzi (not cheap or quick), Poppa and Goose, Boca Grande.

East Somerville? Well, I hesitate to give this place any publicity
because I think it's a hidden jewel and don't want to have to fight
for a table with more people next time I go, but Vinnie's Ristorante
(run by a Sicilian-American family and located in the rear of the
family owned convenience store - named, coincidentally, Vinnie's
Suprette) on Broadway serves some decent Italian food. Given driving
time to and from you might not be able to fit lunch in in under an
 hour.

I get takeout from time to time from Andrea's Pizza on Washington
Street in Somerville - typical Greek pizzeria / sub shop fare and they
deliver to C'town. Delivery speed from them has been inconsistent -
they will always say "1/2 hour" but that more than often means between
 1/2 and 1 hour and I waited 1 1/2 hours one evening.

Beijing Taste near Sullivan Square will also deliver greasy Chinese
($10.00 minimum for delivery I think) and they have always been
super-prompt getting my meal to my place off City Square

I've never crossed the bridge into Chelsea to go out to eat. My uncle
has recommended the Newbridge Cafe for their steak tips but I've yet
 to get over there.

You could head to Lechmere for the Poppa & Goose lunch buffet, which I
enjoyed a year or so ago (went for a co-worker's birthday lunch). First
Street, across from the Sears end of the mall.
