A new place opened in Woburn last week, "Thai Hut" (I would swear it said "Thai Hut 3" when they were renovating...) The offer dine-in and take-out, they are at 383 Main St. (just off the traffic circle in Woburn center), Tele. (781) 937-3111, open everyday till 10pm, and every day except Sunday for lunch. (they take CC) The food is quite good (a definate step above other local places like "Lemon Tree" or "Lemon Grass".) A somewhat typical menu, with a few additions. Everything I have tried so far has been just about perfectly cooked (in particular no overcooked squid.) Appetizers $3.50-4.50, soup $2.50, main dishes $8-11 (rice not included, $11 generally means seafood) noodles $5.50-8. The dishs are quite healthy sized, but not totally overwelming. They also have cheaper lunch specials. Highly recommended, particularly if you are in the area... (Other places I recommend in the area are "Cafe Amante" (moderatly spiffy Italian, very nicely prepared, also right on the traffic circle), and a cheaper Italian place "315 Main Street" just down the street, that is decent (and makes a killer Alfredo sauce.)) Thai Hut in Woburn (recommended, and other good places in Woburn)
>i know of a thai hut in somerville on beacon st. maybe that is the first >of a small chain. i have never eaten there as i just pass by and there >are several good thai places in arlington. That one, at least, is the second. The first was called "Siam Square" and was in Chinatown. It didn't do well there, mostly because people go to Chinatown for chineses :-(. It is, indeed, very good. I used to live in the Fenway, so I've been to the two (used to be three) on Mass. Ave. near the Convention Center green line stop. By far the best Thai I've had is at a restaurant I just found on Boylston across from the Library in Boston. (I can't think of the name, but its directly next to the camera store that sticks out into the sidewalk and used to be a Chinese place). Truly superb! -everettm
