On Friday night we went to a going away dinner at Sydney's Grill which located on Sydney St a block from Mass Av at the University Park Hotel @ MIT. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. There were about 30 in our group and we were in the back room area that is curtained off. There was a fixed menu of selections for our group.

(regular menu is http://www.hotelatmit.com/sydney/menus.html)

These items were from the events menu.
- Crab Cake with Spicy Napa Slaw, Mustard-Cognac Cream

- Mesclun Greens, Roasted Beets and Great Hill Blue Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette

I think these were from the regular menu
Choice of
- Herb Marinated Swordfish with a grilled corn & celery relish
- Grilled Ribeye with goat cheese (not on either menu)
- Maple & Thyme Chicken with a maple glaze
+ some sides (that I don't remember)

Cranberry Cheesecake served with vanilla sauce (I think)

The menu had a good selection of wines by the glass.

For tea there was a choice of several types (tea bags) but the hot water was in a ceramic teapot! (Actually I see that the menu does have loose tea, but noone told me but then again I ordered the tea late since I had been hob-nobbing at another table for a while. So many restaurants including the finest ones have bad tea served in lukewarm water in an unsuitable container so its nice to see that isn't always true.
