Pignoli was my favourite top tier restaurants in Boston. It was the
first place I'd been to here that had a beautiful dining room, good
service, and an excellent and interesting menu. (I've only lived in
 Boston two years).

I've eaten there three or four times now, but each time I went back I
was less happy with it. Once I had less-than-good service. Once I had
a bland meal. But mostly, well, the menu didn't seem that exciting
anymore. I mean, this was a place that served me roasted boar in
chocolate sauce over dumplings; a dish that was as delicious to eat as
unlikely it is to contemplate. (It wasn't molé, more like a rich sauce
based on drippings). So when the best I could do on the menu the last
time I was there was osso bucco, I was a bit disappointed.

But by all means go! I believe it's still an excellent restaurant,
quite delicious and interesting and civilized and beautiful. I'm just
 griping a bit :-)

btw, I mush prefer Pignoli to Biba, their other enterprise. Pignoli
is much more interesting and less stuffy. Biba is too much of a power
 tie kind of place.
