The restaurant is called "Isola", and I'm pretty sure the address is 38 North Water Street in Edgartown. I ate there last month -- so yes, it's open, and it's good. It's moderate-to-expensive, but worth it. It was open last year under the name "Decoy's", but they've completely revamped it for this summer, with a new decor, new menu, and new name. Only the celebrity ownership is the same.

"Olive's", by the way, is in Charlestown, not Cambridge.

As for other places on the Vineyard ... well, the Black Dog in Vineyard Haven is the popular spot (although I wouldn't be surprised if they made more money on t-shirts than on their restaurant business). I've always found it to be way too noisy, but the food is good (maybe a little overrated, but still a good meal). If you go there, brown-bag your wine or beer, since Vineyard Haven is a dry town. They also have an interesting breakfast/brunch menu. Be prepared to wait for a table, there's always a line.

The Oyster Bar on Circuit Ave. in Oak Bluffs is supposed to be good (according to Zagats, that is), but I've never been there since I'm not a seafood fan.

Sorry, we were there for 3 weeks earlier this summer so we ate at a bunch of other places, but none of them were memorable. David Ryan's in Edgartown was a typical yuppie-type place complete with fajitas and frozen drinks. There's a new cheap no-frills barbeque place on Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs which was average (meaning that I thought it was bad but my husband thought it was okay, so let's call it average). Stay out of the Italian restaurant in Oak Bluffs (on the corner overlooking the carousel), it's loud and not very good. I think the Mexican restaurant in Oak Bluffs (on a side street -- I think it's called Zapotec or something like that) was okay, but we went there over a year ago so don't hold me to it.

Hope this helps, and have a great time,

I am about to leave for a vacation in Martha's Vineyard. Any recommendations?

Two of my favorites there (based on prior trips)are the Lambert's Cove Country Inn and the Homeport.

Thanks
