Boston area or close suburbs. Unfortunately, we would >have to go on a Saturday night. How about Karoon. Both I and Barry Shein have said we like it. Look it up the posts in Dejanews. The subject was "Newtonville restaurants", and they are in the "old" database. It's tough finding a quiet but good, yet not big bucks restaurant, especially for a Saturday night. Maybe Mills Falls in Newton. It's been some time since I've been there, but it was always pretty nice and quiet. I don't know about the prices, as it's been some time, but, as I recall it wasn't a wallet buster. Call them, or check them out yourself. Help me select just the right restaurant..
If it's just two to four people, I'd recommend Pandorga's on Willow Street in Waltham. Small restaurant, friendly folks run it, excellent everything, especially seafood. I believe they serve Ecuadorean or Guatemalan dishes (there's another excellent restaurant, Mi Tierra on Moody in Waltham, which bills itself as Ecuadorean and Guatemalan). Service isn't five-star efficient, the place seats maybe 20 if everyone exhales, and they've made me wait 40+ minutes past my reservation for a table. They're not snooty, just not good with reservations. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Waltham. I probably posted a review here in the last year -- DejaNews should find it. So, if you've got a small party, can deal with reservation slip ups without blowing up, then I highly recommend it. --Pat
