Best Worcester Restaurant

I like Sakura Tokyo for the teppanyaki. I don't advise getting sushi or main menu dishes, though. I was there last week and had excellent eel, however. The prices are terribly reasonable for teppanyaki, the atmosphere's so-so.

My favorite place for sandwiches is Boomer's on Highland St. My dorm was right down the road, so I'd always walk down to pick up a Italian Stallion or Rockin' Moroccan. No atmosphere, excellent prices. They've got pretty good pizza too, I guess. I've never liked it, but it's ranked #1 in Worcester every year. (of course, so was Puco's for Mexican, and Rosamaria's is the ONLY Mexican I've found -- very good I second the recommendation you got).

Did you see the new drive-in go up on Park Ave? It just opened last weekend. Appeared to be 50's diner food. We drove by it on the way home from Sakura Tokyo. That may prove to be fun once people have their hot rods out for spring.

Then, of course, there is the Sole Proprietor. A lot pricier than anything else I've mentioned, but it's a great treat. Lovely restaurant, everything's delicious.

Have you been to the piano pub? Live jazz on Wednesday night. The food's great and it's very posh for a Worcester bar (though it's a bit out of the city). I think it's O'Flaherty's. They decorate with penguins... someone help me out here, I haven't been there in a while. It's a little pricey, too, but darn yummy! They had some good blueberry beer last time I was there, too.

Sorry I'm not doing better on this. I'm getting married in June, so we haven't been able to afford eating out for months!

Tianos on Grove Street has awesome Northern Italian. Don't wear your jeans there but dress casually.

East-Park Grille on Shrewsbury St. closed a
week ago. Reportedly, there was a mound of
unpaid employer taxes as well as workmen's
comp. I never ate there, but friends of mine spoke very highly of the food.

Shrewsbury St. is having a lot of problems as I believe there are 29 liquor licenses on that street-far too much competition. I understand a few other places on Shrewsbury St. will be closing soon.

Amazingly, someone is planning on building a new
large steak house on Shrewsbury St., despite the fact that a similar venture has fared extremely poorly.

I'd like to second Rosamaria's. We ate there on Friday, and the food was heavenly. Of course, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired, and the neighborhood isn't all that great, but the food....!
