From the Inner Harbor, go 1/4 mile east on Pratt Street until you see Vellegia's on the right. That's the northwest corner of Little Italy. Turn right and you'll find a couple dozen restaurants in the next 2-3 square blocks. Don Someone wrote: > > Coming to town this weekend and am looking for a few recs for good > eats. Baltimore dining question
NNTP-Posting-Date: Tue, 26 Dec 2000 20:37:53 CST Xref: usenet.INS.CWRU.Edu rec.food.restaurants:52516 dc.dining:18604 Bandaloops (I believe on S. Charles St., several blocks walk from Inner Harbour) is delicious. Sissons is also several blocks south in the same neighborhood as Bandaloops, has a microbrewery, with varied menu. Donna's in Mt Vernon (about 10 minute walk N. on Charles St. at Madison) is also quite good. Anything close to the Inner Harbor is not going to be cheap, but these places are moderately priced and very good. We've been to them all at one time or another. They have all been around awhile and have withstood the test of time in the competitive restaurant market in this area. Additionally, they are all locally owned, and not a part of any chains. We were taken to Bo Brooks by our local contact guy. Very uneven IMO. The crabs were not just delicious- but fun to eat too. Great experience. My fingers smelled like Old Bay the next morning! But $55 for a dozen seemed steep! Rest of the meal was sketchy- I had a combo platter special for $24. Had a crab cake (great), scallops (plain), salmon (over cooked), shrimp (VERY tired and tough). Chowder was burned. Place was decorated like a seafood Denny's or something. But- it was an experience and I wasn't full of regrets. Wish I could have had some of that great Italian food though! thanks for all the recs. ETH
