If you are into fried seafood or a basic lobster/steam-clam meal, I suggest the Weathervane on Rt 1 in Kittery. It's quite informal and there may be one in the Portland area. The Maine Diner on Rt 1 just north of Wells Beach is another informal place which serves an excellent breakfast.

The Maine Diner is a nice place.

If you're willing to go to Wells, I'd recommend Billy's Chowder House on Mile Rd. Great lobster rolls and other Maine seafood. Also great fried onion rings.

It's on the left about 1/2 mile down Mile Road which is off Rt. 1

There's a Billy's Takeout place on the Right a 100 yards from Rt 1 on the right, but the main place is the one farther down.

Hi,

My favorite place in that area is Gilbert's Chowder House on the waterfront in Portland.

It is the Real Thing, not some dumb tourist trap.

Also, in Portsmouth a similar place, I cant remember the name though!

Write if interested.
