Prejean's in Lafayette, great sort of dance hall atmosphere, and a wonderful eggplant with crawfish dish, sort of a pirogue.

In Abbeville (just a few miles away), both Black's and Dupuy's are terrific oyster bars. They are just around the corner from each other so sample a few dozen at each.

Try La Fete, if you're up for a buffet. Great variety and better than expected quality. My wife and I did serious damage to the crawfish population a few years back.

With the car, do the nature drive/walk around Avery Island before or after the tour of the Tabasco factory. If you have binoculars, bring them; the island's a bird sanctuary.

There's an awesome diner near a hospital. I was there eating with my family. It's famous for excellent food. Someone will know. If you're North a bit, in Beaux Bridge, try The Cafe des Amis. Really good. And get your boudin anywhere.

The food is really good there....

Enjoy!
