We were getting hungry on a Sunday (in June) as we were headed to FL by car on I10 in LA. Saw a billboard on the side of I10 for a certain restaurant. So we got off I10 at exit 109 (Breaux Bridge, LA) as indicated on the billboard. But the advertised restaurant was closed. Well we were baffled at this point. We just happened to see a little sign pointing down a side street a few blocks from the closed restaurant. So we took that turn that the sign indicated. We went in and lo & behold there was a cajun band playing and happy folks were dancing & this is on a Sunday about noontime. Never had "real" cajun food before, I ordered gumbo & Fried Oysters & the "boss" ordered stuffed shrimp. The experience was unique & the food was super. The name of the restaurant is Mulate's. No, I am not affiliated with Mulate's and live two days drive from there but I will go back one of these days. http://www.diningacadiana.com/mulates.htm There are two more Mulate's in LA but from what I understand, they are not affiliated with Mulate's in Breaux Bridge. For Good food, in downtown Jennings, there used to be a place whitch was 1/2 of a burned out house traler, with a screened in porch with picnic tables. She justed cooked one pot for the day, and would close when she sold out. Her business was usually luch from the shipyard crews.
