Brigtsens is the first place I head to whenever I'm in NO. Not in the quarter, but well worth the ride. Wonderful food, and your Aunt should have plenty of options there. It's on Dante St.

Colin,
Born and raised in NO, and asking is not silly. It is very easy to get
ripped off in NO, especially in the quarter.
A great place near the quarter is the St. Charles Tavern. Not expensive,
and they serve everything 24 hours a day. Commanders is not too hard to get in to for lunch. And it is excellent. For a great unknown place, try Brightsons at the river bend. They have some early evening specials that are not too expensive. Make a reservation. Any more questions E-mail me at [email removed]

My husband & I ate at Peristyle when we were in NO 2 years ago. We were unimpressed by the food and service. We were very impressed with Bayonna's food and service so I WOULD recommend Bayonna and not Peristyle.

For a really good local place, try the Bon Ton Cafe. Great authentic (i.e. pre-Paul Prudhomme) cajun food.

Unquestionably, go to Peristyle. We've hit most of the name spots in NO, and this is the best we've eaten at, anywhere. Reserve well ahead here, though, it's a small place. Same goes for Brigtsen's. For fun, and a great atmosphere, and the friendliest owner in the universe, go to Upperline. Have fun, it's a great city!
