Go to Kinsale in SE Ireland. Great little twon with a number of small charming restaurants. In fact, each Fall Kinsale hosts a food festival. Unfortunately, the hotels in town are lousy. Also, try Cong near Galway especially Ashford Castle. - DANIEL EVANS,JR. [email removed]

Restaurants in Ireland?
My favorite restaurant in Ireland is Clifford's in Cork City, just around the corner from Jury's Hotel. It's the only place where I've tried tripe and enjoyed it. They also serve an excellent black pudding starter.
There's a good (predominantly) seafood restaurant in Skerries -a fishing village about 20 miles north of Dublin called The Red Bank. Another fishing village -Youghal about 30 miles from Cork has one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. It is called A'hernes. It is run by Kate and John Fitzgibbons who are superb hosts (as only the Irish can be). They also provide very sumptuous accomodation. It is well worth going out of your way to visit. If you go, give my regards and tell them how you heard of the place-they will be thrilled to hear that they have been recommended on the internet.
On the road between Waterford and Dublin there is a town called Loughlinbridge and a resturant called Lord Bagenals. We have tried on several trips and always found it to be very good. Try the lamb. Conleth

Well, I didn't see the start of the thread, but my money usually ends up donated to Les Freres Jacques in Dame St. whenever I'm in Dublin. Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere, incredibly friendly owners and staff. Ang Gilham Lecturer in Humanities Computing University of Glasgow
Try Hunter's Inn on the national highway south of Dublin (20 miles). Salmon was excellent. Joe D.
