Amber Hi there! It's getting a lot easier to find good veg. food over here than it used to be. Increasingly, restaurants even in small towns are offering salad bars or other vegetarian alternatives. I'm presently looking at a 1993 guide to the 100 Best Places to Eat in Dublin (there is a newer one, which we unfortunately don't have in the house at the moment). Here are some possibilities which I believe are still open (you'll want to check when you or whoever get here). Additionally -- there is now a Best Vegetarian Food in Ireland guide out, which you should try to get hold of. Bigger bookstores (try Hodges Figgis and Waterstone's in Dawson Street), and the chain bookstore Eason's, usually have it. Cornucopia: 19 Wicklow St., D2: 01-677-7583. The Irish Film Centre: 6 Eustace St., Tmple Bar, D2: 01-677-8788. 101 Talbot: 101-102 Talbot Street, Dublin 1: 01-874-5011 Gotham Cafe (a division of Independent Pizza Co.): 8 Sth Anne St., D2: 01-679-5266 Blazing Salads II: Powersourt Townhouse Center, Clarendon Street, Dublin 2: 01-671-9552. Ayumi-Ya Japanese Steakhouse (yes, veg. things too!), 132 Lr. Baggot Street, Dublin 2: 01-662-0233. The Cedar Tree, 11a St Andrew's Street, D2: 01-677-2121. Out of town: China-Sichuan Restaurant, 4 Lower Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan: 01-288-4817. Seriously good! The Tree of Idleness, Bray Seafront, Bray, Co. Wicklow: 01-286-3498. Greek-Cypriot food. Expensive, but wonderful. ************************************** These should keep you or friends going until there's a chance to get one of the newer specialty guides.
