worst in Chicagoland--"and don't tell ME, cuz I don't wanna hear it!"

The worst service from a family owned restaurant? Well, that would be the House of Hughes in Crestwood, IL. On Feb. 15th of 1997, my party of 5 pulled up to the packed restaurant only to find that the valet parking was full. We were told to park across the street and down the block. Our reservations were for 6pm (we called a week in advance). After continually questioning the hostess why we had not been seated yet, by this time it was 8:30pm, we were told it would be about another half hour before we were seated. Keep in mind we are in elbow-to-elbow, very angry people. Finally, one member of our party demanded that we be seated immediately. We were...at 9:45pm. Oh, the food was good, although they had one waitress for about 10 tables, our dinner came before our salad, we had to ask for our drinks three times before we got them(which was after the salads), and our waitress completely ignored our table. At first we were all very angry, but once food began to be set down on the table, we lightened up and began to laugh and joke about how the restaurant was so poor that we felt like we were in a movie or something. (and about how we were never going there again!) We finished dinner around 11:30pm and went to get our coats. On our way, we noticed a picture of the owner and his family on one of the walls. When we got to the coat-check, the young lady there resembed one of the daughters. Very politely, and simply out of curiosity, someone in our party asked her if she was related to the owner. Her reply was, "Yes, I'm a daughter. And don't complain to me because I don't want to hear it." Yes, that was our send-off. That also made up my mind that this restaurant review was going to be ALL OVER the internet!!
