I can't say I have eaten in many of the LEY restaraunts, but Sunday evening I had dinner at Shaw's Crabhouse on Hubbard (just east of State) and I had the planked Whitefish. Now, being from Northern Michigan, I have had this particular dish at most fine restarauntsall around the Great Lakes (contrary to public opninion, there are only two great lakes -- Michigan and Superior) and I must say that the whitefish that Shaw's prepared would rate in the top three in the Midwest. The only other ones that are as good are from a restaurant in Traverse City and another in Harbor Springs.

Lettuce Entertain You

Consistently good food. I certainly wouldn't place the Grunts Lettuce entertainment restaurant in the same category as Olive Garden. Aside from food quality (which I found to be as good as any other decent restaurant), RJ Grunts has an ambience that can't be duplicated using expensive interior design artists and modern construction techniques. Being located in the heart of Lincoln Park and close to the lake makes it a nice place for dinner after a day at the lake and/or visiting museums. (I'll take a #22 please)
Try the Blue Crab Lounge. Get salads, soup, cold shrimp, crab caskes or raw oysters, and a drink, all at the (oyster)bar. You'd never feed three for $100 at Shaw's, which is next door. And anyway, the Lounge is a lot more fun. Call ahead to see if there will be music.
