Where to eat in the Loop?

The Berghoff is a perfect choice. Much of the food is heavy, so be prepared to walk off some serious meat and potatoes.

Another good one is the Yvettes Wintergarten lunch cafe' in the 311 South Wacker basement. The food is always great, and the building is gorgeous! You could stop there after a trip to the Sear's Tower (it's one building south).

Excellent suggestion! Forgot about the Berghoff.

Try Jan Drake's. It's on Wabash, just south of Washington, on the west side of the street. It's on the second floor. It's a soup and sandwich kind of place.

Heaven on Seven at 5 N. Wabash has Cajun food. But you have to get there by 11:30 if you want to get a seat. Those on a tight budget can order the gumbo and a corn muffin for less than $10.

Sopprafina, the carryout part of Trattoria No. 10 at 10 N. Dearborn, offers pasta, pizza, and salads (they might even offer a meatball sandwich, but I'm not sure). Seating is available, but you have to get there before noon to be able to find some.

There are also cafeteria-type places like Field's basement and the one in that huge office building between Monroe and Adams.
